Medical diagnostic Laboratory

Medical Laboratory is committed to accurately and efficiently providing test results for our patients. Our specialties include hematology, chemistry, serology, hormonal, immunology, microbiology, urinalysis.

Hematology: Common clinical hematology tests that done in our laboratory:

Blood Counts – Full blood count and automated differential; Manual blood film; Reticulocyte count; Erthrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR); Blood group and RH, prothrombin time(PT),  Activated partial thromboplastin time(PTT), The Coombs’ test(direct –indirect), Bleeding Time(BT) , clloting time (CT). G6PD Screen , Lupus anticoagulant, Protein C, Protein S, Electrophoresis may be used to examine proteins in the blood such as hemoglobin and to check for hemoglobinopathies such as thalassemia or sickle cell anemia.

Immunology and serology: Immunology and serology department in our laboratory focus on the following:

-Identifying antibodies (proteins made by a type of white blood cell in response to an antigen, a foreign substance, in the body)

-Investigating problems with the immune system, such as autoimmune diseases (when the body’s immune system turns on its own tissues) and immunodeficiency disorders (when a body’s immune system is underactive).

Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (Anti CCP), B2 Microglobulin, Beta 2 Glycoprotein (IgG and IgM), Antinuclear antibody (ANA), Anti  Cardiolipin (IgG and IgM) antibodies, Anti Phospholipid (IgG-IgM) antibodies, TPO, C-reactive protein (CRP) ,ASO, RF, Wright, Widal.

Virology: virology department in our laboratory focus on the following:

    Anti-HCV antibodies (HCV)

    Anti-Hepatitis Bs antibodies (HBS Ag)

    Anti-HIV 1 and 2 antibody

    Anti-HTLV 1 and 2 antibody

    CMV (cytomegalovirus) IgG-IgM

    Rubella IgG-IgM

 Parasitology:

TOXO IgG-IgM, Toxoplasma serology (avidity)

Malaria,

Stool Examination

Sarcops,

 Lishmania

Microbiology:

In this department we receive just, urine (cell count and culture and biochemistry tests), stool (cell count and culture and the gayac test) samples. The work here is mainly concerned with cultures, to look for suspected pathogens which, if found, are further identified based on biochemical tests. Also, sensitivity testing is carried out to determine whether the pathogen is sensitive or resistant to a suggested medicine. Results are reported with the identified organism(s) and the type and amount of drug(s) that should be prescribed for the patient.
